ALL COVID-19 TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS LIFTED IN CHENNAI SUBURBAN All travel restrictions imposed in suburban train services, due to Covid-19 has been lifted with effect from 15th November 2021 (Monday). With this, the general public including all categories of passengers will be allowed to travel without any time restrictions in the Chennai Central – Arakkonam, Chennai Central – Gummidipundi / Sullurupeta, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu and Chennai Beach –
Velachery sections.
Unreserved single, return journey tickets and season tickets can be availed by all categories of passengers. These tickets can also be availed through UTS mobile app.
However, passengers to continue to follow Covid safety norms such as wearing masks, hand hygiene and social distancing.

According, priority to Passenger Safety and Safety of train operations, as a part of ongoing Engineering works, Line Block/ Power Block is permitted in Chennai Egmore – Villupuram section on UP Line between Chengalpattu and Singaperumal koil stations on 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th August 2021 from 11:15 hrs to 13:30 hrs (2 Hours 15 minutes). Consequently, the following are the changes in pattern of suburban train services.

PARTIAL CANCELLATION OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICES BETWEEN SINGAPERUMAL KOIL AND CHENGALPATTU
1. Train No. BC23, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu Workmen Special leaving Chennai Beach at 09:32 hrs on 20th, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Singaperumal Koil and Chengalpattu.
2. Train No. BC25, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu Workmen Special leaving Chennai Beach at 10:10 hrs on 20th , 21st, 23rd, 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Singaperumal Koil and Chengalpattu.
3. Train No. BC27, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu Workmen Special leaving Chennai Beach at 10:56 hrs on 20th, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Singaperumal Koil and Chengalpattu.
4. Train No. BC15, Chennai Beach – Chengalpattu Workmen Special leaving Chennai Beach at 10:05 hrs on 22nd August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Singaperumal Koil and Chengalpattu.
PARTIAL CANCELLATION OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICES BETWEEN CHENGALPATTU AND SINGAPERUMAL KOIL
1. Train No. CB32, Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Chengalpattu at 11:30 hrs on 20th, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Chengalpattu and Singaperumal Koil.
2. Train No. CB34, Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Chengalpattu at 12:20 hrs on 20th, 21st, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Chengalpattu and Singaperumal Koil.
3. Train No. CB36, Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Chengalpattu at 13:00 hrs on 20th, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Chengalpattu and Singaperumal Koil.
4. Train No. CB24, Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Chengalpattu at 12:25 hrs on 22nd August 2021 is PARTIALLY CANCELLED between Chengalpattu and Singaperumal Koil.
RESCHEDULING OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICE
1. Train No. CB36, Chengalpattu – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Chengalpattu at 13:00 hrs on 21st August 2021 is rescheduled to leave Chengalpattu at 13:35 hrs (delayed by 35 minutes).
FULL CANCELLATION OF SUBURBAN TRAIN SERVICE
1.Train No. TLB4, Tirumalpur – Chennai Beach Workmen Special leaving Tirumalpur at 10:40 hrs on 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th August 2021 is FULLY CANCELLED.
In lieu of the cancelled Workmen Special, one passenger special will be operated between Tirumalpur and Chennai Beach leaving Tirumalpur at 12:00 hrs on 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th August 2021
ADDITIONAL WORKMEN SPECIALS TO BE OPERATED ON WEEKDAYS AND SUNDAYS IN CHENNAI SUBURBAN AREA W.E.F 13.08.2021
In order to cater to crowds travelling by Workmen Specials and to maintain social distancing, the Workmen Special time schedule has been modified with additional 26 services (on weekdays) and 20 services (on Sundays) in MRTS section. This revised time schedule comes into force with effect from 13.08.2021 (Friday) to ‘until further advice’. The changes in the pattern of Workmen Special services are as follows:
ADDITIONAL WORKMEN SPECIAL SERVICES TO BE OPERATED IN MRTS SECTION DURING WEEKDAYS (MONDAY TO SATURDAY) W.E.F 13.08.2021
1. Chennai Beach – Velachery = 70 services (earlier 57 services)
2. Velachery – Chennai Beach = 70 services (earlier 57 services)
With the introduction of additional Workmen Specials in MRTS section, a Total of 656 services (earlier 630 services) will be operated in Chennai Suburban areas during weekdays (Monday to Saturday) w.e.f. 13.08.2021 ‘until further advice’.
ADDITIONAL WORKMEN SPECIAL SERVICES TO BE OPERATED IN MRTS SECTION DURING SUNDAYS W.E.F 15.08.2021
1. Chennai Beach – Velachery = 48 services (earlier 38 services)
2. Velachery – Chennai Beach = 48 services (earlier 38 services)
With the introduction of additional Workmen Specials in MRTS section, a Total of 471 services (earlier 451 services) will be operated in Chennai Suburban areas during Sundays w.e.f. 15.08.2021 ‘until further advice’.
Note: Due to operational reasons, the nomenclature of Train numbers are provided with 5 digit train numbers for all the directions and will continue to be operated as Workmen Specials only.
