Facilitation for Women Passengers in Indian Railways

Steps taken by Mumbai division / Central Railway for women passenger’s security-

1) Earmarking of ladies coaches / seats in suburban trains.

2) 4 suburban services running as ladies special trains in CSMT-KALYAN & CSMT-Panvel section.

3) Escorting of GRP is done in ladies coaches in night hours of 21.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs. RPF escorts in all ladies special trains.

4) Total 3386 CCTV cameras have been installed in stations of Mumbai division.

5) Dark spots have been identified and illuminated already.

6) CCTV cameras in ladies compartments of 42 suburban rakes along with AC rakes have been provided. Its proposed to install CCTV in all rakes.

7) Work of CCTV installation in 589 coaches of 117 suburban rakes will be completed by 31/03/24.

8) Talk back system is already installed in 71 suburban rakes. And work of balance 80 rakes will be completed by 31/03/24.

9) GRP helpline no. of “1512” is displayed in all suburban coaches.

10) “Smart Saheli” Abhiyaan- Suburban ladies passengers can join RPF / GRP helpline whatsApp groups for assistance through 9004410735.

11) “Nirbhaya pathak” & “Mahila shakti” Teams have been formed in plain cloths for patrolling and profiling of criminals.

12) “Meri Saheli” Operation- for ladies travelling alone in mail express trains- their names with seat numbers are identified by RPF from reservation charts and they are specially looked by on duty train RPF staff.
