Western Railway Introduces Economical Meals & Packaged Drinking Water
WR INTRODUCES THE FACILITY OF ECONOMY MEALS & AFFORDABLE PACKAGED DRINKING WATER AT PLATFORMS NEAR GENERAL SECOND CLASS COACHES
With a view to ensure the availability of economical meals & packaged drinking water to the passengers travelling in General Second Class, Western Railway has introduced the facility of economical / affordable meals & packaged drinking water. The economy meals, snacks / combo meals will be provided through extended service counters which will be stationed at Platforms near General Second Class coaches. The meals will be supplied from the Refreshment Rooms (RRs) & Jan Ahaars (JAs) of IRCTC.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the facility of economical / affordable meals & packaged drinking water is being provided at Mumbai Central, Rajkot, Surendranagar & Chittaurgarh stations over WR. These counters are being aligned with the location of General Second (GS) Class coachesat platforms. The facility of this service counters at the platforms has been done on an experimental basis for a period of six months. There are two types of Meal i.e.
Meal Type – 1 costing Rs. 20/- (including GST): Economy Meal – 07 Poori, Dry Aloo Veg. & pickle
Meal Type – 2- Snack Meal costing Rs. 50/- (including GST): Assortment of South Indian Rice or Rajma / Chole – Rice or Khichdi or Kulche / Bhature – Chole or Pao-Bhaji or Masala Dosa.
Sealed glass of packaged drinking water (200 ml) will be available at a cost of Rs. 3/- (including GST).
Further, more stations are being identified and will be covered for provision of extended service counters progressively for the availability of the economy meals and water.
